Polish Journal of Radiology October-December, Vol.73, No. 4 ISSN 0137-7183 Autumn Scientific Meetings – report Monika Bekiesińska-Figatowska The Third Autumn Scientific Meeting, organized by the Scientific Meetings Foundation, took place on September 11-13, 2008 in Worliny, under the auspices of the Institute of Mother and Child, as usual, and of the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases and the Children’s Memorial Health Institute. The Minister of Health and Mazurian Voivode honorarily patronized the Meetings. This year the Scientific Committee was multidisciplinary. Not only radiologists (Monika Bekiesińska-Figatowska from the Institute of Mother and Child and Iwona Bestry from Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases) but also clinicians, prof. Danuta Perek from the Children’s Memorial Health Institute and Elżbieta Wiatr, Jan Kuś and Adam Torbicki from the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases were its members. III Autumn Scientific Meetings were devoted to non-neoplastic lung diseases and hosted not only radiologists but also pulmonologists, nuclear medicine specjalists ans oncologists. During the first session clinicians and radiologists presented the wide spectrum of data on interstitial lung diseases, tuberculosis and mycobacterioses, primary lung vessels angiitis and pulmonary embolism: from the diagnostic and clinical-therapeutical point of view. The lectures in the second session concerned lung lesions in scleroderma, Langrehans’ cell histiocytosis, chronic obturative lung disease and cystic fibrosis. On the second day of the Meetings nuclear medicine methods in the diagnostic process of non-neoplastic lung diseases were highlighted. As usual, the last session was devoted to interesting case reports. Rare diseases with not widely known radiological presentation were shown. During this session the use of magnetic resonance imaging of lungs in the prenatal period was presented and discussed in the aspect of physiological maturation process assessment and diagnosis of chest pathology, both pulmonary and non-pulmonary. The III Autumn Scientific Meetings took place in the beautiful scenery of Isąg lake. One hundred and fifty participants arrived this year confirming that this symposium has already its stable place in radiological agenda in our country. |
